DAY 01: Arrival at Kathmandu
Arrival at Kathmandu International airport. Meet & welcome by our representative & transfer to hotel. Welcome drink followed by tour briefing. Rest of the day is free for personal activities. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Kathmandu sightseeing
The city is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world, founded in the 2nd century AD. The valley was historically called the "Nepal Mandala" and has been the home of the Newar people, a cosmopolitan urban civilization in the Himalayan foothills. The city was the royal capital of the Kingdom of Nepal and hosts palaces, mansions and gardens built by the Nepali aristocracy.
After the Breakfast we begin our cultural discovery in Kathmandu, the heart of Nepal. We'll visit the Pashupatinath Temple, a sacred place where Lord Pashupatinath is worshipped for eternal peace and salvation. Next, we'll see the impressive Boudhanath Stupa, a large stupa with a vibrant Tibetan culture around it. Moving on, we'll explore Patan Durbar Square, a hub of fine art, with charming alleys and beautiful temples. Finally, we'll visit Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the "Monkey Temple" famous for its resident monkey population. After a fulfilling day, we'll return to the hotel in Kathmandu for an overnight stay.
- Pashupatinath Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Pashupati, a form of Shiva. It is located in Kathmandu, Nepal near the Bagmati river. The temple was classified as a World Heritage Site in 1979. This "extensive Hindu temple precinct" is a "sprawling collection of temples, ashrams, images and inscriptions raised over the centuries along the banks of the sacred Bagmati river", and is one of seven monument groups in UNESCO’s designation of Kathmandu Valley.
- Boudhanath Stupa is also known as Boudhanath, Khasti Chaitya And khasa is a stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal. Located about 11 km from the Centre and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, its massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal and the world. The Stupa is said to entomb the remains of Kassapa Buddha. It is located on the ancient trade route from Tibet route from Tibet which enters the Kathmandu Valley by the village of Sankhu in the Northeast corner and continues to the ancient and smaller stupa of Chabahil named Charumati Stupa.
- Swayambhunath Stupa is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, which is also known as Monkey Temple of Nepal and located west of Kathmandu city. The Tibetan name for the site means 'Sublime Trees' for the many varieties of trees found on the hill. However, Shingun may be of in Nepal Bhasa name for the complex, Swayambhu, meaning 'self-sprung'. For the Buddhist Newars, in whose mythological history and origin myth as well as day-to-day religious practice Swaymbhu occupies a central position, it is the most scared among Buddhist pilgrimage sites. For Tibetans and followers of Tibetan Buddhism, it is second only to Boudha. Swaymbhu is the Hindu name.
- Patan Durbar Square isLocated 5km southeast of Kathmandu, the Patan city popularly known as 'the city of artisans' accommodates a magnificent square housing the palace buildings of the then royals, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples – a display of Newari architecture that had reached its pinnacle during the reign of the Malla kings. It is filled with wood and stone carvings, metal statues, and ornate architecture, including dozens of Buddhist and Hindu temples, and over 1200 monuments.
Day 03: Chandragiri Hill
Wakeup early in the morning and have a breakfast at the hotel. After the breakfast, our representative will meet you at hotel and drive you to the Chandragiri hill. At night you will be staying in Chandragiri.
Chandragiri hill is seven kilometres from Thankot, and lies on the south-west side of Kathmandu Valley which is 2551 metres above sea level. The hill provides panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayan ranges from Annapurna to Everest. Chandragiri Hill has cable car system to reach the temple of Bhaleshwor Mahadev. Chandragiri is where Prithivi Narayan Shah decided to annex the beautiful Nepal valley into his Gorkha Kingdom.
Day 04: Departure
Check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
